Important Plan for March 9
Posted on 03/08/2018

Dear Johnson Park Families,

I am writing to let you know that Johnson Park is currently without power, and while we are hoping that it will be back on by tomorrow morning, I want to share with you our plan for the day if it is not.

Tomorrow morning, students should arrive at school at their usual time. If the power is on when students arrive, they will follow the normal schedule. If the power is not back on, students should head to their classrooms. After attendance is taken, our students and teachers will be bused over to the following schools:

  • Pre-K students to Riverside Elementary
  • K-2 students to John Witherspoon Middle School
  • 3-5 students to Princeton High School

Our teachers are adapting lessons and activities for students so that the day resembles a normal school day as much as possible, albeit in a setting that is different than usual.  For those students heading to JW and PHS, there may be an opportunity to watch play rehearsals by the older kids at both schools!  Children going to JW will primarily be in and around the library.  Children going to the high school will primarily be in and around the auditorium.

A few important notes:

  • We will send another email tomorrow morning so that you know whether your child is at JP with the power on, or has been bused to one of the other schools.
  • If we need to bus our students to other schools, Johnson Park students will be dismissed early at 1:00 PM.  This is so our buses can return to pick up other students throughout the district.  Please prepare for the possibility that your child may be home earlier than usual tomorrow afternoon.
  • We will make sure that students who need a lunch receive a lunch.  If you are able, however, we ask that you please pack a lunch for your child to take to school tomorrow.
  • Assuming the power is out at JP, we will not be able to provide breakfast as usual to students.  We will, however, have plenty of snacks to share!
  • If you have an emergency and need to reach a staff member from JP, please call:

Riverside Elementary: 709-806.4260

Michele Cowell, secretary (JW): 609-306-7319

Marilou Garcia, secretary (PHS): 609-439-9730

Liz Dyevich, school nurse (health concerns) : 609-575-2528

Liliana Morenilla (Spanish-language calls): 609-955-6067

The staff from JP are looking forward to tomorrow as an adventure with their students.  We are confident your children will experience it that way as well.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
